Barbara, Jason, and Wayne wish everyone a Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year. In lieu of sending Christmas Cards to every subscriber of Ridge Rider News, we have elected to send our Christmas Greetings in this fashion.

Barbara seems to have found her calling with regard to the workforce. She finds being the director of Pontotoc’s local affiliate for Habitat for Humanity both challenging and fulfilling. Last July, Barbara’s position with Habitat for Humanity became full time. She continues to work with four-year-olds in Sunday School, which she also finds rewarding. In First Baptist’s sponsorship of "Feeding of the Five Thousand," Barbara spent several weeks compiling names and addresses into a computer program in order to keep track of the more than three thousand individuals who were fed a Thanksgiving Feast one week before Thanksgiving.

Jason continues to live in our Guest House on Dogwood Circle. He devotes much of his time to computers and music. Having been employed only a part of this year, he has a lot of time to spend on his hobbies. He has expressed an interest in going back to college next semester, but has yet to enroll. Jason’s other interests include sports at all levels of competition from high school to professional. It’s fair to say he’s a walking encyclopedia of information with respect to Ole Miss football, the Southeastern Conference, and the Chicago Cubs. Jason is still single and is likely to remain so for the immediate future.

Wayne has managed to meet his annual project management goals for SUPERVALU early this year, though it’s unlikely he’ll be allowed to coast for the rest of the fiscal year that ends in February. Wayne’s stint of four weeks' work in retail stores in Wisconsin and Illinois has given him cause to be thankful such assignments are infrequent, and the experience has solidified his gratitude for his having been born in the South. Wayne continues to meet most self-imposed deadlines in publishing the Ridge Rider News, a hobby that he considers will ultimately be more important to his grandchildren and their offspring than to anyone else.

Both Barbara and Wayne have spent an inordinate amount of time caring for and visiting the elderly this year. Lillie Belle resides at the Pontotoc Hospital Nursing Home, where her health remains relatively stable. Aunt Jo, who has been hospitalized for the past seven weeks, is improving, but her ability to care for herself remains limited.

We appreciate your support and encouragement and wish each of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
