Wayne was born in Pontotoc, Mississippi but started to school in Iuka, Mississippi. After several family moves, Wayne returned to Pontotoc to finish his elementary education and graduated from Pontotoc High School in 1960. 

After majoring in Mathematics at Ole Miss, Wayne spent the next seven years as a High School Math Teacher. His, is a varied career has included: Office Machines Salesman, Meat Supervisor, and Technology Consultant.

Wayne is married to the former Barbara Crouch of Ripley, Mississippi. He and Barbara, who have two children and three grandchildren and proudly make their home in Pontotoc.
